American math competition 8 is a secondary school math multiple-choice test consisting of 25 questions for NZ students in years 5-10 and is limited to 40 minutes. AMC 8 is designed to foster a positive attitude towards analytical thinking and mathematics that will help them in their future mathematical careers. Taking and studying for AMC 8 at the primary level in advance will also give children an early boost to their interest and enthusiasm in math competitions for AMC 10/12 later on.
A total of 61 students participated in the AMC 8 online preliminary held by Pinnacle Academy on September 25 from 19:00-19:40, and half of them got excellent results! Among them, two students earned a Full Score!

The content of the American math competition 8 exam is drawn primarily from a typical middle school mathematics curriculum. Among the possible foundational topics include, but are not limited to: counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, elementary geometry including the Pythagorean Theorem, spatial visualization, everyday applications, and reading and interpreting graphs and tables. In addition, some of the complex problems that follow may involve linear or quadratic functions and equations, coordinate geometry, and other topics traditionally covered in a beginning algebra course.
Finally, students who took the American Mathmatics competition 8 in January 2022 will receive official results and reports by email in early to late-February 2022. The AMC 8 is the most reliable mathmatics test globally, and the AMC 8 certificate is the highest recognition of a child's math ability. Also, the AMC 8 certificate can help students going on to Year 6 and Year 8 apply to better private schools or prestigious international schools.
