🌟 What is AMC?

The AMC is one of the most established and widely participated maths competitions in Australasia, designed to highlight the relevance of mathematics in daily life. It is suitable for students from NZ Years 4–13, offering a friendly yet thought-provoking challenge.

Each year, Australia’s top educators create 30 unique questions that blend logic, reasoning, and creative problem-solving—no rote memorisation required.

📊 Who Can Join?

The AMC offers 5 levels based on school year:

• Middle Primary (NZ Years 4–5) – calculator allowed

• Upper Primary (NZ Years 6–7) – calculator allowed

• Junior (NZ Years 8–9) – no calculator

• Intermediate (NZ Years 10–11) – no calculator

• Senior (NZ Years 12–13) – no calculator

Students may choose to compete at a higher level but cannot go below their school year division.

📝 Competition Format

• Question Type: 30 questions total

  • 25 multiple-choice

  • 5 requiring exact integer answers

• Duration:

  • Primary levels: 60 minutes

  • Junior and above: 75 minutes

• Format: BYOD (bring your own device, exam is done online) to either one of the following exam centres: Auckland Northshore / East Auckland / Auckland Central / Christchurch.
