

What is AMC competition

Welcome to the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) in PGA!
​
The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives; it is open to students in NZ Years 4 to 13.
Australia’s leading educators and academics, with a deep understanding of our national curriculum standards, actively design unique AMC problems each year.

Divisions (equivalent to NZ Year):
Middle Primary (NZ years 4-5), can use calculator
Upper Primary (NZ years 6-7), can use calculator
Junior (NZ years 8-9), can NOT use calculator
Intermediate (NZ years 10-11), can NOT use calculator
Senior (NZ years 12-13), can NOT use calculator

Students can sit at the level above their school year, but cannot attend the division below their school year.
​
The primary paper is 60-minutes long, other levels are 75-minutes long.
​
NOT allowed to use calculator, unless for middle and upper primary students.
